Undergoing a breast lift procedure, or any cosmetic surgery for that matter, requires a period of recovery that can be completed with minimal discomfort or downtime provided that all necessary measures are taken to promote proper healing of the body. At the Gartner Plastic Surgery and Laser Center located in New Jersey and Manhattan, New York, Dr. Gartner and his medical staff will work alongside you to ensure that you have thorough instructions to guide you during your recovery.

People often wish to return to their normal lifestyles as soon as possible, which may include physical activity like swimming. Those who travel for a New York breast lift may return to a beachside location, eager to show off their new look. An exercise such as swimming is a wonderful way to build major muscle groups and avoid muscle atrophy, however, before jumping into a pool or running into the ocean for a swim, there are certain precautions that need to be taken to avoid complications and to achieve the best, possible results from your breast lift procedure.

Recovery can vary from patient to patient, so it is important to speak with our medical team before resuming any physical activities. Regarding swimming, we generally recommend that it is safe to swim after four weeks. This allows sufficient time for incisions to be completely closed and no longer at risk from bacteria in the water. For those who experience slower healing, this period may be longer. When given the clearance to swim after a breast lift surgery, these are the two major concerns that should be considered.

THE EFFECT OF WATER ON INCISIONS, POSSIBLE INFECTIONS & SCARRING

Before submersion into water, the incision sites from the breast lift surgery should have been given enough time to heal sufficiently. The wounds should be closed with no scabs present, so that infection from bacteria and microorganisms in the water no longer poses a risk. This is also true for baths and hot tubs since dirty water can lead to infection. Incision healing typically takes about three to four weeks.

Although scars are inevitable after breast lift surgeries, entering water too soon can delay wound healing in incisions that have not quite closed, and lead to pronounced scars.

EXCESSIVE STRETCHING OF SKIN OR OVEREXERTION OF MUSCLES

This is a concern that is not related to bacteria in the water but the physical strain of swimming.  Seeing as where you are in the recovery process, you may be limited to the type of activities that can be performed while in the water.

Swimming is an activity that can mean many different things to people. Some enjoy hanging around in the water and maybe taking a few gentle laps. If this is your definition of swimming, then you can certainly resume this activity within a month however, if the definition of swimming is intensive exercise with swimming strokes and advanced forms, you may need to wait a bit longer until nerves have healed and no inflammation is present so that you feel comfortable.

If you have any questions regarding the timeline of when you can swim or do other activities, please feel free to contact our medical team in New York at the Gartner Plastic Surgery and Laser Center. We are here to support you during your journey to a new and improved you.

Procedure:

When we have made the decision to undergo cosmetic surgery, we might have a certain preconceived mindset about what kind of procedure we will need. However, after speaking with Dr. Gartner, you might come to realize that in order to produce your desired results, you will need more than one type of procedure. Not all cosmetic goals can be met with a single procedure. For instance, if you wish to lose excess fat in your stomach area, you might require both liposuction and a tummy tuck. If you wish to get rid of cellulite without surgery, that may require repeated sessions. Before going to meet with Dr. Gartner, here is the difference between our grouped procedures, and repeated treatments. With this information, you might be able to better understand the process.

GROUPED PROCEDURES

Some of our treatment plans feature multiple kinds of procedures. Take for instance our tummy tuck treatment. Our tummy tuck program includes both liposuction and the surgical removal of fat and skin. The two work wonderfully together when not all of the fat can be removed by one procedure alone.

Some treatments include more than two types of procedures. This is likely in order to reach more than one area of your body. A perfect example would be the body lift. The body lift treatment might feature skin removal, liposuction, abdominal muscle tightening, non-surgical cellulite treatment, and non-surgical skin tightening. This procedure is meant to remove any excess skin after considerable weight loss.

REPEATED TREATMENTS

Most of the treatments mentioned are capable of being made in a short period of time. However, there are times where it is ideal for the patient to come back for repeated sessions. Generally, the smaller the adjustment, the fewer procedures are needed. If you are simply looking to erase a pesky blemish, then mole/lipoma removal can be accomplished in one day. Other, more complex treatment plans are meant for complex conditions.

As mentioned earlier, it is possible to get rid of cellulite without surgery. But if that’s the case, then that means in order to get rid of cellulite, you will have to go in for a series of sessions. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. It just means that it is healthier for the procedure to be taken gradually than blasting it out in one session. Another example would be if one of our female patients goes in for a tummy tuck, and a year later has a baby. They will likely have to come back for a second treatment since a tummy tuck is not a permanent solution.

DECIDING TREATMENT PLANS

So now the question is: Should I get one of these grouped procedures, or should I simply get one procedure at a time? That entirely depends on the current state of your body. Now that you have learned a bit about our treatment options, you can go ahead and talk with Dr. Gartner. He will be able to tell you whether or not your body is fit for one procedure or multiple ones. For more information on our services, be sure to contact Dr. Gartner. For information on our various procedures, be sure to check out our treatments page.

There is a special aesthetic balance that goes into someone’s cosmetic surgery. Great surgery is a hidden art; people should automatically assume that you’ve always looked that way. However, you still want to have that body image you’ve been dreaming of. But how do you achieve that happy medium? In short, it requires the right artistic and technical expertise on the part of your surgeon. That goes for if you want to get rid of cellulite, obtain a fat transfer breast augmentation, or get any other kind of procedure. Here are just a few things that Dr. Gartner keeps in mind in order to make sure that your surgery looks as believable as possible.

REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS

One of the first things to consider with cosmetic surgery is what you can and cannot do with your current body. Any adjustments that we make have to realistically match your body’s current condition. For example, if you would like to lose a large amount of weight, you should first try a diet and exercise regiment. If you still have pesky fat deposits despite the exercise, then we can start considering procedures to get rid of cellulite and fat.

AGE

The same principle applies to age. You want your facelift to look natural. But if you are 50-years old, then you are not going to look like a 15-year-old. What we can do is get you close to a 35-year-old (depending on your body’s condition). Anything beyond that would be an unnatural look. There are several celebrities that look as though they never age. But that is not necessarily the case. Notice how Jennifer Aniston does not look like she is 20-years-old. She convincingly looks like a happy, rejuvenated 30-40 year old (even though she is nearing 50). The goal of cosmetic surgery is not to profoundly turn back time. It is to rejuvenate your current body to make it look as best as it can possibly look in your current age.

PROPORTIONS

Another important thing to consider is how much your adjustments will stand out when compared to the rest of your body. For instance, if you are looking for a fat transfer breast augmentation, then you should probably aim for a realistic breast size. You do not want them to be too large, or they might make the rest of your body look too small in comparison. The same goes vice versa.

Everyone is different. There is no one-size fits all approach to cosmetic make-overs. Some people may require a simple contour in order to get rid of cellulite and excess skin. Others may need a more dramatic readjustment (i.e. a fat transfer breast augmentation or a Brazilian Butt lift). That is why Dr. Gartner is here to personally discuss the best possible procedure for your needs. The older we get, the more we lose the natural subcutaneous fat that gives our face volume. If you are looking for for a fuller and more youthful face, then look no further. Dr. Michael Gartner offers two types of treatment options to give you a fuller face: cheek implants and dermal fillers. They each offer great services to your face, but one can be preferable depending on your specific needs. To get a better idea of which type of treatment is right for you, let’s compare and contrast the cheek implants from the dermal fillers.

SIMILARITIES

Both treatment options can add fullness and definition to your cheeks. Our dermal fillers can grant you the fullness lost over time, preserving your youthful appearance. A surgical cheek implant can generally give you the same kind of result. Both sets of procedures can offer you the specific refinement you need for a more aesthetically pleasing contour. Dr. Michael Gartner has a wonderful artistic eye and will be able to match your face with your the ideal appearance, just like how a painter is commissioned to do a portrait.

DIFFERENCES

One of the biggest things that separate the two treatment options is time. Dermal fillers normally require you to return for another injection one or two times a year; the fillers only last about a few months at a time. As for cheek Implants, they can last for years. They are by far the longest lasting option. Implants also appear more symmetrical. On the other hand, fillers for your cheeks and lips are non-invasive, while implants do require invasive surgery. The dermal fillers procedure also offers more cosmetic benefits, such as skin rejuvenation to reduce wrinkles. This is good since the lack of subcutaneous fat can make you look older.

Depending on your needs, you might already have an idea of which procedure you’d like best. But there is still far more to learn about these kinds of procedures. Please feel free to contact Dr. Michael Gartner today. He will be able to talk to you directly about your face’s current condition and what would be the best procedure moving forward.

It is expected that we see the natural signs of aging as we grow older. But sometimes these effects can be more noticeable than expected. Just because you are over 40 doesn’t mean that you have to give up on your looks. You can still feel a sense of confidence with your appearance with the right cosmetic procedure(s). From Dr. Gartner (Paramus plastic surgeon) here are just a few types of treatments that can make you look and feel younger.

HAIR RESTORATION

One of the most annoying and noticeable signs of aging is hair loss. If you are a man or woman who are dreading baldness, then there is no reason to let it bother you any further. Paramus plastic surgeon, Dr. Gartner’s hair transplantation and restoration procedure can be applied to either your whole head or just certain spots that you require. Not only will your hair make you look younger, but it will be thick and nice to touch as well.

FACIAL TREATMENTS

Here at Gartner Plastic Surgery and Laser Center, we contain many facial procedures, both surgical and non-surgical. These treatments can reduce sagging and fatty skin around certain areas of your face, such as our skin tightening treatment. There are others that can also restore your face’s fullness via implants. Any liver spots or fine lines can be reduced with our Photo facial rejuvenation.

BODY CONTOUR

As time goes by, our metabolism slows down and our body accumulates more fat than we would prefer to have. But thankfully, there are plenty of surgeries that can restore fullness where we would like it, and reduce it where we would not like it to be. Ideal breast implants and Brazilian Butt lifts can bring more fullness to your breasts and buttocks, while liposuction and tummy tucks can reduce any fat in the middle or around the sides.

CELLULITE REDUCTION

Aside from the noticeable fat we would like to get rid of, there are other more subtle fat deposits that can create sagging and therefore make aging more noticeable. Get rid of fatty skin ripples by receiving a cellulite removal surgery (which can be either surgical or non-surgical depending on the needs of the patient).

SCLEROTHERAPY VEIN REMOVAL

Another unique surgery to make you look younger is to remove those spidery veins that appear on your skin. This procedure is made with injections rather than incisions.

For more information on our procedure available, be sure to check out the rest of our treatments, or contact Paramus plastic surgeon, Dr. Gartner today.

New Jersey plastic surgeon, Dr. Gartner offers plenty of cosmetic surgeries available to enhance your appearance. Breast augmentation Cheek Implants allow you to look younger and allow for a better contour. However, what about procedures meant for your skin? Plenty of surgeries incorporate skin care, but there are others that solely focus on skin care. Take a look here to see about some of these beneficial treatments.

MOLE AND LIPOMA REMOVAL

Unwanted growths can pop up every now and again throughout our lives. Because they can be hard to eliminate, we just grow to live with them. But why let that happen when you can get rid of it for good? Feel free to check out Dr. Gartner’s Mole and Lipoma Removal treatment. This option is good for both cosmetic appearance, and for health benefits in the case of the moles/lipomas are uncomfortable and/or potentially cancerous in some cases.

FACIAL PEELS

It doesn’t hurt to have a regular rejuvenation for your skin every few weeks (similar to getting a haircut). And in the case of facial peels, they are definitely worth it. Our facial peel treatment allows you to reduce any discoloration, smoothen your skin texture, reduce the size of pores, and even better control acne. It is definitely worth the drive to meet with new Jersey plastic surgeon, Dr. Gartner for this skin-enhancing treatment. Another natural treatment is curcumin, pharma-grade complex curcumin can help rid acne scars.

FRACTIONAL SKIN RESURFACING

If you would like your skin to look less dull and more firm, then you might be in need of some Fractional Skin resurfacing. One of our non-surgical procedures, this option allows for your skin to look and feel more youthful, and rejuvenated after years of damage. Say goodbye to pigmentation irregularities, roughness, and uneven complexions.

SKIN TIGHTENING

If age has made your skin sag more than you’d prefer, then there is no reason to ignore our skin tightening treatment. This option not only tightens your skin, but also reduces cellulite and fat. This only adds to your new look since there will be more of your preferred body contour.

BODY LIFT

Sometimes weight loss can be great for the amount of fat in your body, but not so much with the amount of skin. If you had lost weight and found that there is still excess skin left hanging, then never fear. Our body lift procedure reduces the amount of loose skin, as well as any excess fat left over that you were unable to drop.

Procedure:

Cosmetic surgery is often viewed as mainly being for beauty or aesthetic reasons. However, what often go overlooked are the practical living benefits of cosmetic surgery. Although none of these cosmetic surgeries can fix eyeball failings, they can help reduce anything around the eyes that might be blocking your field of sight (i.e. skin sagginess). Our New York/New Jersey Eyelift and Browlift surgery not only can restore your field of vision but also your aesthetic appearance. We at Gartner Plastic Surgery and Laser Center would like to highlight the details of these beneficial treatments.

BROW LIFT

Sagging skin on the forehead can cause your eyebrows and eyelids to be pushed down. This therefore limits your field of sight. With a Browlift, you will be able to get your ideal field of vision back, while also a more youthful feel and appearance. When someone has sagging skin on their face, they not only look tired but feel tired as a result of constantly see a tired look in the mirror. This psychological benefit can give you a renewed sense of energy for your daily life. The incisions are made along the hairline, making the post-recovery scars nearly invisible.

EYELID LIFT

Similar to the Brow-lift, our NewYork/New Jersey Eyelift (AKA Eyelid-lift or Blepharoplasty) is a procedure that enhances your field of vision by reducing sagging skin around the eyes. As the name implies, this surgery focuses on both the lower and upper eyelids. It is used to reduce any fat, drooping, excess skin, and bags below or above the eyes. With these distracting features gone, you will finally have a better field of vision. This surgery also provides a rejuvenated feeling of youth to your appearance. It is performed with local anesthesia. The scars are made within the natural creases of the eyelids. Therefore, these scars are practically invisible after recovery is finished.

We know that these procedures offer many aesthetic benefits. However, what should never be ignored is the possibilities of having this surgery for your healthier living style. Whether or not you choose the New York/New Jersey Eyelift and/or Eyelid surgery, your eyes will have an enhanced field of vision to look forward to. For more information on other facial procedures, be sure to check out our treatments page. For any external information that you require, please be sure to contact Gartner Plastic Surgery and Laser Center. We are here for all of your cosmetic needs.

We often go to cosmetic surgery for the purpose of making our bodies look more aesthetically appealing within our own tastes. Naturally, New Jersey plastic surgeon Dr. Gartner wants every patient to be happy when they look at themselves in the mirror. However, although we might be pleased to see a flatter stomach or better contour of our legs, we might not be so happy with the sight of surgical scars left over from the surgery. With so many people worrying about surgical s cars when considering plastic surgery, here are a few things to know in order to help answer questions you might be having towards the noticeable sign of surgery on your body.

DR. GARTNER CONSULTATION

It is unfortunately a simple fact of biology that one cannot create an incision on the skin without leaving some kind of scar. The question then becomes, how do I reduce the visibility of my scars? This is ultimately determined between you and your plastic surgeon (in this case, Dr. Gartner, New Jersey plastic surgeon). Depending on the available options for the surgery, you will be able to talk with Dr. Gartner over which kind of procedure will fit best for your cosmetic goals, while also hiding the scars in the best way.

MANAGING THE SCARS

That brings us to the next subject: dealing with the scars. If the scars are inevitable, how exactly are handled? First off, thanks to advancements in cosmetic surgery, Dr. Gartner provides the best possible modes of incisions to make your scars as little noticed as possible. Part of those techniques is hiding the scars within certain areas of the body. Take for instance the Breast augmentation with implants procedure. This process involves making incisions that are small in size within the belly button. There is no way that this incision will be visible after recovery from the procedure. There are plenty of other invasive surgeries, but the scars are not something to worry about since Dr. Gartner will be able to let you know about all of what to expect with your body’s invasive procedure.

Pregnancy obviously takes a certain toll on the body. This is largely the reason for many women going for plastic surgery treatments after pregnancy, (i.e. our New Jersey Liposuction and Breast Implant treatments). However, what is not talked about as much is what happens if you have a baby after you’ve had a tummy tuck. Is it safe to get pregnant after a tummy tuck? Will the effects of your tummy tuck last after you’ve had a baby? We have your answers here.

IS IT SAFE TO HAVE A BABY AFTER A TUMMY TUCK?

Yes, it is perfectly safe to have a baby after a tummy tuck procedure. There is nothing that could harm the mother or child during the whole 9 month period. There used to be a concern that the tightening of the abdominal wall would prevent the woman’s stomach from stretching properly during pregnancy. However, this has proven to not be the case. The stomach stretches just as safely as it would without a tummy tuck.

IS IT IDEAL TO HAVE A BABY AFTER A TUMMY TUCK?

Here is the tricky part. Generally, for our New Jersey Liposuction and Tummy Tuck procedure, we recommend to get a Tummy tuck once you are finished having children. It is just more practical since you may need to get another surgery after the birth in order to restore your look again. However, life commonly has surprises in store. Not all pregnancies are planned, and couples often change their mind about having babies. Therefore, if you are going to have a baby in the future, we recommend waiting until about a year after the Tummy Tuck. This allows your body more time to recover from the initial surgery.
The amount of fixes needed for restoring your appearance will vary depending on your body’s conditions. This of course depends on how your body reacts to the tummy tuck and the pregnancy. If you would like more information on if you are eligible for our New Jersey Liposuction and Tummy Tuck procedure, before and after pregnancy, be sure to talk to Dr. Gartner. Dr. Gartner is here to meet with you to discuss your body’s capabilities, and what course of action is best for you. He will be able to answer all of your questions regarding you and your baby’s health, as well as your beauty goals.

Procedure:

There is this misconception that plastic surgery is mostly an opportunity for females. Although the procedures are currently more popular among women, it is not a gender exclusive opportunity. Whether you are interested in rhinoplasty or liposuction, there are plenty of plastic surgery procedures that are available for males, just as much as females. With rising trends pointing out that men are warming up more to the idea of plastic surgery, it is time to highlight some of the procedures that are always open to males and females.

RHINOPLASTY

A rhinoplasty (AKA nose-job) focuses on reshaping the size and look of your nose. Since just about everyone has a nose, this is of course not a gender exclusive opportunity. The only variation is how the nose appears in relation to the patient’s anatomy. Anatomy of course differs not only between males and females, but also between different proportions of each patient regardless of gender.

LIPOSUCTION

Liposuction (AKA Liposculpture) is a treatment where we reduce the targeted fat areas of your body. Dr. Gartner performs this procedure through the use of Smartlipo. This is a laser-assisted device that melts away the fat deposits before sucking them out of the body.

BREAST REDUCTION

Breast reduction is a very useful procedure for both men and women. It can not only help with your desired appearance, but it can also help improve balance in your body. The male breast reduction surgery is usually less severe than the female procedure.

BOTOX/DYSPORT

These injectable treatments are used to smooth away the wrinkles around patients’ faces (particularly around the eyes, forehead, and brows). This not only makes the patient look younger, but it also allows helps control excessive sweating.

SKIN TIGHTENING

Similar to Botox/Dysport, the non-surgical skin tightening treatment rejuvenates your facial appearance by reducing skin sagging and making you appear more youthful.
The beauty of plastic surgery is that it helps adjust peoples’ appearance to their desired aesthetic. And that opportunity is open to all people who are healthy enough to undergo aesthetic procedures. For more information on our Rhinoplasty, Botox, or other cosmetic opportunities, be sure to contact Dr. Gartner today.
