Aging can cause lines and hooding skin on the brow and upper eyelids, making one look and feel tired and angry. For that reason at Gartner Plastic Surgery we offer a targeted brow lift procedure that can rejuvenate the area without the need for a full facelift. If you’re experiencing a heavy, drooping forehead and brow, a brow lift can help restore a more refreshed, youthful appearance in just one treatment.

Our patients have mentioned that the sagging skin in their forehead area not only makes them look tired but also makes them feel tired, too.

Rejuvenating the look of your brow area does not necessarily require a full facelift. If you are a little too young to consider a full facelift or your problem area is limited to the brow/eyes, you may find that this targeted, customized procedure was made for you.

A brow lift works by lifting and repositioning the skin and tissues of the forehead and eyebrows, tightening any loose or sagging skin, and smoothing out wrinkles and creases. The procedure can be performed using various techniques, depending on the individual’s needs and desired outcome.

For example, a traditional brow lift involves making an incision across the scalp, lifting the forehead skin, and muscles, and then removing any excess tissue before suturing the incision closed.

Alternatively, a minimally invasive brow lift may involve making small incisions and using an endoscope to visualize and adjust the tissues, resulting in less scarring and a quicker recovery time.

Overall, a brow lift can be an effective way to improve the appearance of the forehead and eyebrows and achieve a more youthful and awakened look.

Brow Lift Options

Dr. Gartner performs a lateral brow lift, a leading-edge technique designed to restore the contour of the temples and brows. This technique offers several benefits, including discreetly placed incisions along the hairline to minimize scarring. Dr. Gartner takes great care to minimize the appearance of scarring and has perfected techniques and post-operative treatments to ensure scars are virtually invisible.

For those who prefer a non-surgical option, a brow lift and/or nonsurgical treatment, such as BOTOX®, may be suggested. It is less invasive than traditional brow lifts, associated with less bruising and swelling, and offers a faster recovery with quicker results. That said, non-surgical options last anywhere from 3 to 5 months on average and will continue to need maintenance treatments.

Ideal Candidate

A brow lift is a facial rejuvenation procedure suitable for men and women who are unhappy with the appearance of their sagging brow and forehead. If you constantly look tired, angry, or sad, a brow lift can restore your youthful, vibrant appearance.

If you’re considering an upper eyelid lift or blepharoplasty, a brow lift may be the solution you need. Most brow lift patients are usually over 40, but younger patients with specific concerns may also be suitable candidates.

After your brow lift procedure, you’ll receive detailed recovery instructions from Dr. Gartner to help speed up your healing and ensure the best possible results. For the first three weeks after surgery, it’s important to avoid any activities that could increase blood pressure and cause swelling or bruising. You should also protect your head from the sun to prevent permanent scarring.

THE FIRST TWO WEEKS: During the first couple of weeks after your procedure, you may experience some swelling and bruising in your forehead and other facial areas. You can generally return to light work after one week but should check with Dr. Gartner before resuming any strenuous activities.

THREE TO FOUR WEEKS AFTER: You can usually return to the gym after three to four weeks, but should gradually build up to your pre-surgery intensity over a couple of months.

A MONTH AFTER: The results of your brow lift after a month will include a smoother forehead contour, an enhanced brow arch, and a younger, fresher appearance. You’ll no longer look tired, angry, or sad, and may even be mistaken for having gone on vacation due to your rested and happy appearance.

During your initial consultation at Gartner Plastic Surgery, you’ll speak with Dr. Gartner and discuss the possibilities of this procedure. He’ll invite you to share your goals and questions. It’s important that you be honest about your concerns and expectations—this allows Dr. Gartner to have a good understanding of what you’d like to improve and what you expect to achieve.

The best thing that you can do to help make your surgical experience a more satisfying one is to follow the care instructions that are given to you by Dr. Gartner. The time before your surgery may be stressful, but following these instructions will better prepare your body for surgery, make it a smoother experience, and improve your rate of recovery.

Arrange for childcare since you probably won’t have the energy to take care of young children. Prepare food so you won’t have to cook in the days after surgery. Fill out all prescriptions and have them in a convenient location. Prepare the area in your home where you’ll spend your time recovering. Make sure you have pillows, blankets, comfortable clothing, books, and anything else you need nearby for your convenience. Clean the house since you won’t have the energy to do that as you’re recovering.

You’ll have to stop eating or drinking anything, including water, eight hours before your surgery. Take a shower the night before your surgery, using antibacterial soap. Do not apply any skincare products or makeup.

Arrive at our surgical facility wearing comfortable clothing. A button-up shirt is preferred since it’s easier to put it on or change out of. Make sure you have a trusted family member or friend who can take you home after your surgery is finished.

Right after your surgery, your breasts will appear larger than you may like and will have an odd appearance. They may look flattened out, your nipples may be pointing downward and there won’t be much fullness in the lower portion. This is because of two reasons: swelling and unsettled implants. Swelling (and bruising) is caused by the trauma of surgery and will decrease with time. Your implants will gradually drop into position as well with the force of gravity and natural tissue expansion, which occur to accommodate the additional volume of your implants. This happens over the course of a few months.

You’ll be advised to start wearing a bra two to four weeks after your surgery, depending on how fast your implants settle. During this time, if you dislike the appearance of your nipples through your clothing, silicone disc pasties can be worn to hide them. These are available at Victoria’s Secret, among other stores.

You’ll be able to take a shower the day after your surgery. Remove the ace wrap. Use mild soap on the incisions as well, and wash thoroughly without rubbing the area. Gently pat dry. This will help the incisions remain clean and reduce the risk of infection. Baths cannot be taken until about two weeks after your surgery.

Individual recovery rates can vary; most patients resume a sedentary office job in one week with a gradual resumption of normal activity, although some return much sooner. You will probably have to wait a month or two if your job is physically demanding, particularly if it involves lifting heavy things. Typically, you can expect to recover faster if you received local rather than general anesthesia.

Strenuous exercise can be resumed in four weeks. Please start slowly and gradually increase intensity.

These guidelines are very general. You will receive specific instructions that are designed for your recovery from Dr. Gartner
