New Jersey Monthly released its 2026 Select Surgeons list this month, and Dr. Michael Gartner is on it in thirteen categories.
How the List Is Compiled
The magazine publishes the list every August. Editors build it from peer input, and selections are finalized before anyone from the magazine talks to a practice about advertising. If you have ever wondered whether a “best of” list was bought, that is the specific thing to look for, and it is the reason this one carries weight with patients doing their homework.
This is not new territory for Dr. Gartner. He has appeared on the list nearly every year for close to a decade, going back to before Gartner Plastic Surgery moved to its current Paramus location.

The 2026 Categories
The categories cover most of what happens at the practice in a normal week: tummy tuck, facelift, rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, breast reduction, arm lift, thigh lift, buttock lift, eyelid surgery, facial and body liposuction, ear surgery, hair transplantation, and aesthetic female genital rejuvenation.
Thirteen is a wide spread. Most plastic surgeons build a practice around two or three procedures and refer the rest out.
Credentials and Revision Work
Dr. Gartner is double board-certified and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. A significant share of his caseload is revision work, meaning patients who had surgery elsewhere and came looking for someone to correct it. Revision surgery draws on a broader technical range than a primary procedure does, and that range is what the thirteen categories reflect.
