Procedure
Wondering how an eyelid lift can give you the gorgeous, bright-eyed look you’ve always wanted? During the procedure, Dr. Gartner makes incisions in the natural creases of your eyelids to remove excess tissue. Whether you choose to focus on the upper, lower, or both eyelids, you can trust that Dr. Gartner will carefully close the incisions with sutures, leaving behind minimal scarring hidden within the natural creases.
The result is a more youthful and refreshed appearance, with reduced under-eye bags and improved vision.
Benefits
- Reduce bags above and below your eyes.
- Smooth away wrinkles along the lower eyelid.
- Tightening of skin above the eyes.
- Reduce drooping of the upper eyelids that can impair your vision.
- Reduce drooping of the lower eyelids to reduce the amount of white showing under your irises.
Ideal Candidate
while the procedure can be performed on an adult of any age, a typical patient ranges from 35-60 years old. blepharoplasty is suitable for men and women who want to rejuvenate the appearance of their eyes by addressing any of the following:
- Upper eyelid skin that is loose and sags or droops, creating a fold and possible vision impairment.

Why Choose Us
At Gartner Plastic Surgery, we offer a unique approach to eyelid surgery. First, we perform the surgery under local anesthesia, which means you’ll be awake and comfortable throughout the procedure.
We also conduct a comprehensive pre-surgery assessment to determine the most suitable surgical technique for your needs.
We prioritize your safety and comfort during the surgery, which is why we take extra care not to cut through the ocular muscle and perform transconjunctival fat removal, leaving no visible scarring.
Additionally, we use a technique called “skin pinch” to smooth away fine wrinkles and crepey skin for a more dramatic improvement.
Our overall goal is to make your surgery experience as pleasant and effective as possible.
Recovery
The final step is the recovery process. Although you may experience some discomfort and swelling during the first few weeks, this can easily be managed with medication and elevated headrests. Don’t worry about dry eyes or blurred vision; they’re temporary and will improve with time.
In about a week after your procedure, you’ll be able to wear makeup to cover any discoloration, and the steri-strips will be removed.
For best results, avoid strenuous exercise for three weeks. You can return to desk work in a week, and you’ll see that the under-eye bags and wrinkles are gone, leaving you looking refreshed and energized.
Preparation
Blepharoplasty can achieve impressive results in properly selected patients.
For this reason, you’ll have a thorough consultation with Dr. Gartner to ensure the procedure is right for you.
Not only will your aesthetic goals be discussed and your medical history reviewed, but Dr. Gartner will also examine your eyelids to assess your concerns.
Preparing for your eyelid surgery is important for a successful procedure and recovery. Two weeks before your surgery, avoid certain medications and supplements such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, vitamin E, ginseng, and St. John’s Wort.
however, the only way to know if you’re a suitable candidate for surgery is by talking to Dr. Gartner during your private medical consultation.
Additionally, if recommended by Dr. Gartner, start taking arnica supplements two weeks before your surgery to help with recovery. Make sure to fill any prescribed medications you will need for recovery ahead of time.
We also recommend setting up a quiet area at home where you can rest after surgery.
Remember not to eat or drink anything for eight hours before your surgery. On the day of your surgery, arrive at our surgical facility without makeup and wear comfortable clothing, including a button-up shirt to avoid pulling anything over your head.
Lower and Upper Eyelids
- Local anesthesia is administered when targeting the upper eyelids only.
- An incision is hidden within the natural fold of the upper eyelid and extended slightly beyond the outside corner into other existing creases (or laugh lines).
- Through the small incision, excess skin and fatty tissue are removed and due to the incision being well hidden, its appearance will be unnoticeable once healed.
- The incision is closed.
- General anesthesia is administered for a lower eyelid lift.
- However, if only a bit of skin is removed, local anesthesia may be sufficient.
- An incision is made just below the lower lid and may extend into the crows feet.
- If fat is removed, Dr. Gartner will use a transconjunctival incision (an incision placed on the inside of the lower eyelid), eliminating any visible scarring.
- The incision is closed.
- Your surgery is customized according to your concerns.
Your surgery: It may take anywhere from 30 minutes for a “skin pinch” to tighten lax lower eyelid skin and smooth away static wrinkles, to two hours for tightening skin and smoothing away unwanted bulges of fat in the upper and lower eyelids.
