Why Choose Us

The advanced technology we offer is specifically designed to provide visible improvement with minimal downtime by targeting two goals:

First, the ProFractional laser device allows us to precisely control the depth at which the laser penetrates, and target specific tissues to achieve the desired result. It only ablates narrow channels of tissue in the target area, which leaves the surrounding tissues untouched. This initiates the production of fibroblasts (the cells which are responsible for the creation of collagen), while maintaining the structural integrity of the skin. The result of this advanced technology is that you’ll enjoy a more comfortable treatment and faster recovery.

Your treatments are performed by Dr. Gartner personally, rather than a “laser tech” or someone who isn’t a licensed medical doctor. The extensive training and experience of a double board certified Plastic Surgeon ensures that you’ll undergo safer, more effective procedures with the assurance that your safety is in the right hands.

Ideal Candidate

Fractional resurfacing is suitable for any skin type or color. It is designed to treat a wide variety of complexion concerns related to texture or tone caused by the aging process, environmental exposure, and trauma.

Fractional laser resurfacing involves laser technology. In preparation for this, you should avoid tanning or prolonged sun exposure for at least two weeks before your treatment. You should also avoid exfoliating or causing damage to the skin in any way because we want its surface to be intact in order to minimize risks. If your skin is infected or irritated, your treatment may be postponed.

On Occasion, Dr. Gartner may recommend that you take antibiotics before your treatment, however, please do so only if he advises you to.

Treatment

The procedure typically requires only half an hour, depending on the size of the target area(s).

  • The skin in the proposed treatment area will be cleansed.
  • For your comfort, a topical, numbing cream may be applied beforehand. Local anesthesia by injection may also be administered when appropriate.
  • A cooling gel is then applied to the target area(s) assisting with the fluid movement of the device and soothing care of your skin.
  • Using a handheld, sterile device, the target area is exposed to the fractionated laser, treating thousands of tiny, pinpoint areas of your skin.
  • The treated area(s) will be cleansed and moisturized. A sunscreen will also be applied to protect the sensitive post-procedure skin from damage.

Recovery

Fractional Skin Resurfacing Paramus, NJ

Your skin will appear slightly red and sensitive directly after your treatment. Many patients describe this as a sensation similar to sunburn. You may also note minor facial swelling and/or bruising, depending on the extent of your treatment. We recommend that you avoid known blood thinning medications or supplements before your treatment to help minimize your likelihood of bruising. We will advise you to keep the area(s) clean, moisturized, and well-protected from UV exposure for the first few weeks after your treatment. This is done to ensure rapid healing, to ensure your vulnerable skin is protected, and to achieve optimal results. The first phase of recovery generally takes from four days to a week. During this time, redness, swelling, and peeling skin will follow a natural course of progression and gradually resolve. Follow Dr. Gartner’s care instructions to speed up the recovery process so that you’ll be able to see your results sooner.

After your initial recovery, you’ll notice a gradual improvement in your skin as collagen and elastin levels increase. Your complexion will be smoother, firmer, and more youthful. Visible results can be seen after a single session, however, you may find that a series of three to six treatments is necessary in order to achieve the improvement you want.
