Must-Have Items for Your Breast Augmentation in New Jersey

Breast Augmentation With Implants

You’ve decided to have a breast augmentation in New Jersey, and you’re likely impatient to be on your way home with your new assets. One way to pass the time in the days leading up to your procedure is to prepare for the most comfortable recovery possible.

To make your OR day run smoothly and feel comfortable as possible after, here are some must-have items for your breast augmentation in New Jersey:

1. Comfortable tops

After your BBA, you’ll be able to leave the same day and head home to relax. What you bring to put on should be super comfortable and easy to fasten, button or zip. Loose-fitting zip or button-up tops that you don’t have to pull over your head are ideal. One of the things you’ll have to avoid right away is lifting your arms over your head to fit into clothing, and anything tight won’t feel great.

2. Bras with no underwire

Most surgeons will recommend that you choose wire-free bras for the first month after your surgery. A good tip is selecting post-op bras that are looser-fitting and clasp at the front. Stretchy sports bras that fasten at the back are also an option, but you might need someone to help put them on. They shouldn’t pull or press much on your incisions. Underwire poses a risk of injury and impaired healing at the incision site, not to mention manipulation of the healing breast pocket. Your surgeon will let you know when you’re clear to go shopping for fancy bras.

3. Cleansing wipes

Showering for the first week after surgery might be tricky. Cleansing wipes are a great way to keep yourself feeling fresh while you lounge and catch up on your favorite TV shows or movies.

4. Straws

This might not be something that comes to mind right away when contemplating must-haves for your breast augmentation in New Jersey. However, trust us – they are a lifesaver! You’ll be reclined far more than usual for the first few days and having a straw makes it easier to stay hydrated ( or sip on mochaccinos) Flexible straws are best.

5. Recovery care

You’ll need some post-op care items close at hand in the first few days and weeks. It’s important to keep your incisions clean. You may want to place a little gauze between your steri-strips and bra for cushion and protection. Silicone gel strips and bio-oil can be useful once incisions are healed and you want to help fade scars. Keep your medication handy at the bedside with small food items like pudding to help wash it down.

6. Snacks

Food is an essential part of anyone’s recovery! You’ll definitely want some of your favourite comfort snacks around, but you should also think about nutrients at this time. Did you know that certain foods can boost healing? You should stock up on proteins like lean meats (chicken, fish, eggs) and nuts and seeds which encourage your skin’s healing process. Fruits and vegetables will also provide nutrients to give your immune system some extra support. Doctors often advise that you eat light portions so that your body can put its energy into healing rather than digesting. It’s good to stay away from alcohol in the first week and if you’re taking medication.
