COMPLICATIONS AND RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH SCLEROTHERAPY

Common side effects
The following is a list of common side effects that may occur. These are all considered temporary.

- tenderness

- before disappearing, treated veins may darken first
- you may also have red bumps at the injection points which will go away in a day or two
Rare complications
Ulcers: These can develop shortly after your treatment and may be resolved with additional treatment.
Inflammation: Sometimes, blood vessels may become inflamed. This can be resolved with medication or heat.
Blood clots and deep vein thrombosis
Hyperpigmentation: This is a higher risk in patients with darker skin tones.
Allergic reaction: It is rare for patients to experience an allergic reaction.
